#SACRED 2 FALLEN ANGEL PC UPDATE FULL#
Look for our full review of Sacred 2: Fallen Angel as the game gets closer to release. At first I had some difficulty adjusting to the UI and controls. Seriously, guys, we're not that hardcore. There are also some gameplay issues that we're hoping will be addresed before March, most importantly the fact that the pause screen doesn't stop the action in the game. Right now, the game is looking quite rough in all of the above areas.

That gives Ascaron plenty of time to clean up the framerate, pretty up the textures and polish up the interface before Sacred 2 makes its way into gamers' hands. Sacred 2's console developers still have a lot of work to do before the game ships this spring, but again, we've been playing an alpha build that is not representative of the final product. I wish there was a setting to let Sacred 2 know my No.

The latter can be a bit confusing when two heroes are trying to pick up loot on the battlefield, as the game sometimes confuses your desire to loot with your desire to trade said loot with your friends. It's used for opening chests, talking to NPCs, picking up loot and even trading treasures among party members in co-op mode. With the face buttons taken up by spells and weapons, that leaves the left bumper as the main action button. Tapping one of these in battle will swing a weapon or use a spell, depending on your setup, and holding the right trigger gives you access to another bank of slots. Then you can open spells and map them to your controller's face buttons. If you want to tweak your spells, for example, you'd hold down the right bumper, choose combat arts and browse the four categories (which are relative to your character class). Whether you choose a High Elf, Temple Guardian, Seraphim, Dryad, Shadow Warrior or Inquisitor determines what weapons, spells, mounts and equipment you'll be able to use in your adventures. There are six character classes to choose from, and each comes with his or her special attributes and abilities, in true RPG fashion. The action takes place from a third-person perspective that allows you to zoom in close for an over-the-shoulder view or far in the air for a top-down look. If you've played games like Diablo or Too Human, you'll get the idea. Sacred 2 is all about exploring the gigantic game world (we're told it's 22 square miles) and collecting the myriad loot that falls from the cold, dead hands of your vanquished enemies. But from what I've played of the alpha-level preview so far, it's clear that Ascaron has retained the hardcore PC vibe of its predecessor. The console version of Sacred 2 is still very much a work in progress, and there's still a lot developer Ascaron will need to take care of before the game launches for Xbox 360 on March 24. This spring, console gamers will be able to visit the magical land of Ancaria as well, and I've been playing an early build of the Xbox 360 port in the office in recent days. German publisher cdv Software released the action role-playing game Sacred 2: Fallen Angel for PC last year, and IGN PC editor Charles Onyett liked it well enough that he bought the T-shirt.
